Some surprising praise came our way. And I almost missed it. – SCN Encourager

And it came from social media authority Amy Schmittauer no less.

She’s impressive.

In the course of Wednesday’s 45 minute Lunchinar, Amy offered her own unique takes on –

and Periscope.

For those of us looking to pick up some more items to cram into our school PR toolbox, we weren’t disappointed.

But when Amy was asked about the best tool to get started with, I’m sure I wasn’t the only one surprised by her answer.

Screen Shot 2016-03-10 at 10.46.18 PM“I can’t tell you that,” she said. “It all depends on who your audience is, your strategic goals, and the type of conversations you want to be part of.”

She continued.

“Only YOU know the engagement you are hoping to inspire,” she added. “Meaningful conversations happen online when they take place in the right context – and YOU are the ones who determine and shape that. Social media channels are just tools. YOU create your strategies and tactics. YOU’RE the authorities in your field.”

As a school leader and communicator, Amy’s words should make you feel good about the value you bring to the leadership table, don’tcha think?

At least she recognizes you’re an authority.

Hey! Works for me! Thank you, Amy!

But I still doubt my business manager will approve my request for a new sign on my office door.
