What’s your definition of a true professional? – SCN Encourager
That is, what’s the difference between an amateur and a professional?
Maybe I should ask around at today’s MSPRA conference in Ann Arbor.
I’ll bet Executive Director Gerri Allen or an MSPRA board member would know.
They’re seasoned professionals.
And sharp ones at that.
But I probably won’t.
I’m afraid one of them might ask me, “who let you in?”
So I’m staying under the radar if you know what I mean.
Remember when I wrote about Todd Herman a couple of days ago?
He’s an incredible productivity and mindset coach and he defines the difference between an amateur and a professional like this.
It all has to do with the “measurables.”
He says professionals know if their strategies succeeded because the numbers prove it – and professionals also know if their strategies didn’t succeed because the numbers prove it.
Dang.
That doesn’t seem like much fun.
But it’s what professionals do.
They establish clear targets and monitor their progress (or lack thereof…) using clear metrics.
I guess I was hoping against hope that adroitly “staying under the radar” at a conference would somehow be perceived as highly professional.
That would’ve been nice.
With all of the wedding hub-bub going on in my home lately, I’m actually getting pretty good at it!
